How to set a Webcam?
Connect the webcam to your PC
- Connect the webcam’s USB cable into one of the rectangular USB ports on either side or back side of your PC.
- If the plug does not fit into the port, turn the plug 180 degrees and try again.
Ensure that you plug the webcam straight to your PC, not a USB hub. USB hubs are often too underpowered to run a webcam.
Insert your webcam CD
- Place the CD that comes with the webcam in your PC’s CD tray. Ensure that the logo is face-up in the process.
- If the webcam doesn’t include a CD, skip this step.
You can generally find a copy of the webcam’s software in the “Support” section of the webcam brand’s site.
Wait for the webcam’s setup page to open
Your webcam’s setup page should open up automatically. If your webcam did not include a CD then insert the webcam into your PC for auto-install.
Follow any on-screen guidelines
Your webcam’s individual instructions will differ. But the majority of setup procedures will involve clicking through a number of preference windows before pressing an Install button.
- Pay attention to the windows’ details here. You’ll probably need to choose particular choices that can help the webcam work later.
Wait for your webcam to complete installing
When the webcam has completed installing, its program should start, after which you can start setting up the webcam.
Open the webcam’s program
If the webcam’s program failed to automatically open upon finishing installation then you’ll need to check out the program and open it manually.
Adjust the webcam
In the center of your webcam program’s window, you must find real-time footage from your webcam. Adjust your webcam to point at your face from your favored position.
Test the webcam’s sound
When chatting into the webcam, look for spikes in activity next to the “Audio” (or similarly titled) section in the webcam’s window. If you do not find any sort of activity here then your webcam’s microphone isn’t working. Then you have to be enabled this from the webcam’s or computer’s configurations.
- Check your webcam’s manual to find out specific instructions on how to address insufficient audio input.
